Lucas Moraes en Dennis Zenz versterken Dacia Sandriders

Het Dacia Sandriders team voegt vanaf 2026 een vierde auto toe aan zijn line-up in het FIA World Rally-Raid Championship. De Braziliaanse coureur Lucas Moraes en de Duitse navigator Dennis Zenz worden als nieuw rijdersduo aan het team toegevoegd. Daarmee groeit het Dacia Sandriders-team uit tot een serieuze titelkandidaat in het W2RC.

Met de komst van Lucas Moraes en Dennis Zenz geeft Dacia Sandriders een krachtig signaal af: het team wil structureel meestrijden om de overwinningen in het FIA World Rally-Raid Championship (W2RC). Moraes en Zenz zijn vanaf het seizoen 2026 actief voor het merk, te beginnen bij de Dakar Rally van dat jaar.

De toevoeging van het duo betekent dat Dacia Sandriders voortaan vier auto’s inzet. Behalve Moraes/Zenz bestaat het team uit de bestaande equipes Cristina Gutiérrez/Pablo Moreno (beiden uit Spanje), Nasser Al-Attiyah (Qatar)/Fabian Lurquin (België) en Sébastien Loeb/Édouard Boulanger (beiden uit Frankrijk).

Lucas Moraes, 35 jaar, debuteerde in 2023 in de Dakar Rally en pakte meteen een podiumplaats. Een jaar later eindigde hij als derde in het W2RC-klassement. De drievoudig Braziliaans kampioen schreef recent zijn eerste W2RC-overwinning op zijn naam tijdens de Rally-Raid Portugal en behoort sindsdien tot de topfavorieten in het kampioenschap. Moraes liet ook sterke prestaties zien met podiumplaatsen in Abu Dhabi en Zuid-Afrika.

Dennis Zenz, eveneens 35 jaar, is een ervaren navigator. In 2023 navigeerde hij Seth Quintero naar de tweede plaats in zijn klasse in de Dakar Rally. Daarna was hij samen met de Amerikaan tweede overall in de Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge van zowel 2024 als 2025.

De komst van Moraes en Zenz betekent een verdere professionalisering en versterking van de Dacia Sandriders. In de rally-raidwereld is het gebruikelijk dat topteams meerdere auto’s inzetten. Met vier competitieve bemanningen vergroot Dacia Sandriders zijn kans op succes aanzienlijk in deze zwaarste tak van autosport.
