Alpine Motorsports trapt 2024-seizoen af met duo presentatie F1 (A524) en WEC (A424)
- Alpine Motorsports luidt 2024-seizoen op spectaculaire wijze in met officiële presentatie van Formule 1- en World Endurance Championship-campagne.
- Bruno Famin, vicepresident Alpine Motorsports, presenteerde beide projecten aan media, sponsoren en VIP’s tijdens Motorsport Launch-event Enstone.
- Formule 1-sterren Esteban Ocon, Pierre Gasly en reservecoureur Jack Doohan deelden hun ambities voorafgaand aan hun tweede opeenvolgende seizoen als coureurs van het BWT Alpine F1 Team.
- Technisch directeur Matt Harman gaf inzicht in de agressieve ontwerpfilosofie van de A524, de uitdager van het BWT Alpine F1 Team voor 2024, die later deze maand het circuit op gaat in Bahrein.
- Bruno Famin en Philippe Sinault presenteerden de A424 Hypercar voor het World Endurance Championship (WEC), evenals de teams van de WEC-auto’s nummer 35 en 36, met als hoogtepunt de presentatie van nieuwkomer Mick Schumacher in de WEC Hypercar-klasse.
- De Alpine A424 zal volgende week op het circuit in Qatar te zien zijn voor de proloog en eerste race van het WEC-seizoen.
- De kleurstellingen van de Formule 1- en WEC-bolides belichamen het autosporterfgoed van Alpine, gekenmerkt door het traditionele Alpine blauw en geïnspireerd door de hedendaagse kunstenaar Felipe Pantone.
- Het BWT Alpine F1 Team benadrukte de gewaardeerde ondersteuning van titelpartner BWT en premium partners bp, Castrol, Renault E-Tech en – nieuw voor 2024 – timingpartner H. Moser & Cie, evenals zijn indrukwekkende portfolio van Official Partners, Technical Partners en andere leveranciers.
- De Motorsport Launch van Alpine in Enstone, de Britse thuisbasis van het BWT Alpine F1 Team, werd bijgewoond door Alpine CEO Philippe Krief en Luca de Meo, CEO van Renault Group, die de commitment van Renault Group aan autosport onder de vlag van Alpine opnieuw bevestigde.
Het BWT Alpine F1 Team bereidt zich voor op het 2024-seizoen met een recordaantal van 24 races. De volledig herziene A524 F1-auto met een agressieve ontwerpfilosofie om het potentieel gedurende de komende twee seizoenen te maximaliseren, zal worden bestuurd door de coureurs Esteban Ocon en Pierre Gasly. Het is het tweede seizoen op rij dat het rijdersduo van het BWT Alpine F1 Team geheel Frans én Normandisch is. Beide coureurs worden vergezeld door Jack Doohan, die voor het seizoen 2024 opnieuw een rol vervult als reservecoureur van het team.
In het WEC begint Alpine aan zijn eerste seizoen in de Hypercar-klasse (LMDh) als fabrieksteam. Alpine verschijnt aan de start met twee exemplaren van de A424. Een hoogtepunt voor het nieuwe seizoen is de aanstelling van voormalig F1-coureur Mick Schumacher, die zijn WEC-debuut maakt en samen met de ervaren rijders Nicolas Lapierre en Matthieu Vaxiviere de auto met startnummer #36 zal besturen. De A424 met startnummer #35 wordt bestuurd door de nieuwkomers Ferdinand Habsburg en Paul-Loup Chatin en het jonge talent Charles Milesi dat begint aan zijn tweede seizoen bij Alpine. Jules Gounon is reservecoureur voor het komende seizoen.
De kleurstellingen van de A524 en A424 zijn modern, opvallend en grotendeels geïnspireerd door de samenwerking van Alpine met hedendaagse kunstenaar Felipe Pantone. Het ontwerp is van nature zwart en wordt geaccentueerd door levendige patronen in kenmerkend Alpine blauw. De unieke uitstraling draagt bij de identiteit van Alpine Motorsports. BWT gaat het derde jaar in als titelpartner van het Formule 1-team, dat wordt gekenmerkt door de wereldberoemde roze kleuren die sterk naar voren komen in de kleurstelling van de A524. In acht raceweekenden domineert de kleur roze om de nauwe samenwerking tussen Alpine en het in Mondsee gevestigde waterbedrijf – dat zich richt op het terugdringen van plastic voor eenmalig gebruik in de wereld – extra te onderstrepen.
Behalve op BWT was het Alpine F1 Team ook trots om zijn sterke vloot van loyale partners te mogen verwelkomen tijdens het Motorsport Launch-event, met speciale vermelding van de premiumpartners bp, Castrol, Renault E-Tech en H. Moser & Cie (nieuw in 2024), wiens naam ook te zien is op de A424, evenals de naam van Alpine’s partner Elf.
Het autosportevenement werd bijgewoond door Philippe Krief, CEO van Alpine, en Luca de Meo, CEO van Renault Group, die de commitment van Renault Group aan autosport onder de vlag van Alpine opnieuw bevestigde. De A424 vertrekt naar Qatar voor de proloog en de eerste race van het seizoen later deze maand, terwijl de A524 het seizoen aftrapt tijdens de shakedown op 20 februari, gevolgd door drie testdagen op het circuit in Bahrein (21 t/m 23 februari), voorafgaand aan de seizoensopener op het Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir een week later.

We experienced big changes and a huge step forward as a team. To reveal our Hypercar for the 2024 season alongside our drivers is truly a special moment. I think it’s difficult to say if we will go for the win this year, but we are hungry for good results, and expecting to shine quickly with everything we have put in place.”
Matt Harman, Technical Director, BWT Alpine F1 Team: “The A524 approach has been aggressive but deliberate in the fact we are creating a wider scope to add performance to the car. We have really focused on learning and reacting to what we have learnt rather than on results. The project has been bold where we have focused on realising concepts, which we aim to add to the car. We’ve built ourselves a strong platform to add performance when we can and we have set ourselves targets to deliver those. We have pushed some elements to the limit and, in some cases, beyond that. That is all in line with our approach and exactly what we have set out to achieve in progressing this project to the best possible level.”
Esteban Ocon, BWT Alpine F1 Team Driver: “It goes without saying that I am super excited for the season and I cannot wait to jump back in the car and go racing again. This time of the year is exciting as it is the moment we see what the team has produced. I have seen drawings, been on the simulator but, obviously, not yet seen or sampled the complete, real thing. That will wait until shakedown but it’s a nice moment for the team as it’s the culmination of thousands of hours of hard work. As a driver, it’s a goosebumps moment when you jump in a new car for the first time and release the pit limiter. That time is close now with the A524 and I really cannot wait to get started.”
Pierre Gasly, BWT Alpine F1 Team Driver: “I would say that I am in a much better place right now than this time 12 months ago. I know exactly all the people I’m working with; I know all the processes and how to get the best out of those around me and out of myself. It is nice to have continuity and building on the foundations that we created last year. I’m feeling confident with the team I have around me. We have all been developing over the last year. Now I am confident that I can attack the season straight away and maximise the full potential of the team.”
