Renault once again partner for Dutch Design Week

This is the second time that Renault will be a partner in Dutch Design Week (DDW), which is the largest design event in Northern Europe and will take place in Eindhoven from 19 to 27 October 2019. Renault will be making 35 new Renault ZOEs available as ‘Renault Design Rides’, thus creating a free transport service between the many DDW locations. In addition, the new ZOE will be making its debut in the Netherlands during DDW. The new ZOE will be available on the Dutch market at the end of 2019.

Three Renault concept models will also be showcased for the first time in the Netherlands, to be admired in the Klokgebouw in Eindhoven. The three models EZ-GO, EZ-PRO and EZ-ULTIMO reflect Renault’s future vision on urban mobility.

The DDW theme of ‘If not now, then when?’ is in keeping with Renault’s vision. Radical changes are on the horizon, for users as well as car manufacturers. In a world where urbanisation is rapidly developing and between 60 and 70 percent of the population will be living in cities by 2030, it will be a considerable challenge to transport people in an efficient, sustainable and affordable manner. Renault’s vision is that mobility will be electric, shared and autonomous in the future.

Renault leader in electric vehicles

‘If it were not for Renault, then’…there would not be as many electric vehicles on the European roads of Europe. With over nine years’ experience, Renault has established a strong position as pioneer and European leader in the field of electric mobility. With over 150,000 registrations, the Renault ZOE is the best-selling electric car in Europe and almost one in every four electric cars in Europe is a Renault. The Renault Group can offer the widest range of electric cars with the Renault ZOE, the Renault Twizy, the Renault Kangoo Z.E. and the Renault Master Z.E. By 2022, there will be 8 fully electric cars and 12 electrified models.

‘If not now, then when?’

Will there ever be a more opportune time to develop new forms of mobility? Renault is a front-runner and is using three robo-vehicle concepts to explore possibilities for sustainable and shared mobility solutions of the future.

New Renault ZOE’s debut in the Netherlands

Renault’s leading role in the field of electric vehicles will be further emphasised during DDW, thanks to 35 new and improved Renault ZOEs, which will be on display for the first time in the Netherlands. These fully electric vehicles will be made available by Renault as ‘Design Rides’ and can be used free of charge by visitors to travel between the 110 different locations at DDW. The range of the Renault ZOE is 390 kilometres (WLTP).

Première of Renault concept models in Klokgebouw

The trio of concept robo-vehicles consists of the EZ-GO, EZ-PRO and EZ-ULTIMO. The EZ-GO offers an insight into the potential of shared urban mobility. The EZ-PRO reflects Renault’s vision in the area of urban distribution, while the EZ-ULTIMO has been developed as a premium service for shared mobility. The three EZ models will make their national première during DDW and will be showcased at the heart of Dutch Design Week in the Klokgebouw in Eindhoven.

Talks by Laurens van den Acker

Dutch national Laurens van den Acker, who has been Senior Vice President Corporate Design at Renault since 2009, will be attending DDW and will give talks on design and mobility of the future on 19 and 20 October.

Van den Acker studied Industrial Design at TU Delft. In his current position, Van den Acker is responsible for design at Renault, Dacia, Alpine and Samsung Motors.

Designing the car of the future

As part of Dutch Design Week 2019, Renault is organising a competition called ‘Design the Car of the Future’. Renault is using this design competition to ask the Dutch to envision their ideal car of the future.

This is Renault’s way of following up on the Renault Design Award, which has taken place every two years since 2013. In this competition Dutch design-duos were asked to participate in an assignment on Renault’s design philosophy. This year, people in the Netherlands are being asked to share their visions for the car of the future. All entries will be evaluated by a professional jury headed by Laurens van den Acker. More information will be later revealed via Renault Netherlands’ social media and www.renault.nl.
